New to Competitions?
If you are new to the club or your child has only just started entering competitions, the many different types of competitions and ways of entering can seem very confusing.
In brief there are TWO main types of competition:
1. INDIVIDUAL ENTRY: This includes our club championships, country, regional and national competitions, the Dorking Open and other club's opens which are part of the DSC competitive calendar. In general, the individual swimmer must complete an entry form (including details of events entered, PBs and ASA number) and hand this either to their Squad Rep or the Club Desk. These individual entries are then collated and sent off to the relevant club or organising body. When you receive details of galas, you will often see a closing date. This is usually the closing date by which DSC needs to have collated, processed and submitted all our entries. Swimmers and parents MUST ensure that they submit their entries in line with our own internal deadline which will be communicated by the squad reps and posted on the website. There are many types of individual entry galas suitable for different levels of swimmer. Usually the qualifying times will be the best indication of the type of gala and you will be able to judge by comparing these to the PB sheet whether to enter that particular gala. PLEASE ASK YOUR SQUAD REP IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS
2.
TEAM AND LEAGUE GALAS: DSC participates in three swimming leagues (Rother, Wey and NSLS) during the course of the year, we also host and attend a number of team galas. Team for these galas are selected by our Team Manager and Head Coach. Team lists will be posted on the website and are available to view on club nights. You do not need to complete individual entries for these galas and there is no charge. We always need lots of help organizing these events so if you child is swimming please sign up to volunteer. Further information is available by following the links to the League and Team Competition pages on this website.
